Curving House features elegant curves that seamlessly harmonize with the natural contours of the sloping corner lot. The design of this residence is a thoughtful integration of form and function.
The strategic use of curves not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also serves a practical purpose by allowing wind to flow smoothly throughout the space. This intentional design choice not only complements the site's topography but also creates a dynamic and organic feel, embracing the inherent beauty of the surroundings. The curves serve as a visual expression of the site's unique features, providing both a distinctive architectural signature and optimizing natural ventilation for a more comfortable and sustainable living environment.
Space maximization, passive cooling, and aesthetic harmony are the primary considerations for the project.
Upon entering the home, our clients are greeted by a high-ceilinged space, setting the tone for an inviting atmosphere. A focal point at the captivating corner from the entrance, a semi-spiral staircase is embraced by curving glass, offering panoramic views and becoming a striking feature visible from the outside. Curves are also employed within the interior spaces, fostering a seamless flow and visual connection to key communal areas in the house.
Adjacent to the visitor's area, the dining room ensures privacy through slats, striking a balance between seclusion and aesthetics. The dining room, featuring folding glass doors, effortlessly links to an outdoor koi pond, visible from the dining room, family hall and bedrooms.
The overall design embraces an open concept, extending from the front to the rear and with the use of high ceilings creating a continuous flow of air promoting natural ventilation, thereby ensuring passive comfort inside. Every room is equipped with awning-type clerestory windows, strategically positioned to facilitate heat dissipation, ensuring a comfortable environment throughout. Eaves are thoughtfully incorporated to further enhance passive cooling mechanisms, promoting energy efficiency throughout the residence.
